Description

In a world of endless attention grabbers and distractors, “Mindfulness Fundamentals” empowers individuals across professions and backgrounds with crucial skills to take control of their well-being and live with more presence and intention. In this class, we’ll delve into the neuroscience of the mind at rest, unraveling the origins of distractions, anxiety, and intrusive thoughts. We’ll discuss how mindfulness helps orient you to the present and go through a guided sensory meditation to experience this firsthand. Finally, we’ll discuss several ‘mindful actions’ that can help you replace reactive behaviors with intentional actions.

At the end of this class, you will be able to:

  • Explain the “default mode network” and its role in mind-wandering and distress
  • Use mindfulness techniques to shift from the past and future to the present
  • Apply mindful actions to curb reactive behavior in response to unwanted stimuli
