Ask Powerful Questions

1 class
60 minutes

Description

At the heart of great management and leadership lies the skill of asking powerful questions. Whether the goal is to make better decisions, build more inclusive workplaces, promote creative ways of thinking, or inspire trust, asking better questions can help us get there.

In this class, we will focus on making intentional choices about the type of question to ask, learn how to sequence questions and change approaches when needed, and use active listening and probing questions to get beneath surface answers.

You will leave with a greater understanding of:

  • The anatomy of a powerful question and how to ask the right questions at the right times.
  • When facilitating coaching conversations, defusing conflict, leading creative brainstorms, and other key leadership activities, powerful questions to ask.
  • How to sequence your questions effectively to get the most out of your conversations.

I appreciate the way Hone classes break down an integral management skill and makes you focus on it a different way. Just like physical training, you become aware of it at Hone, practice it consciously for the next few weeks, and it becomes second nature. Thanks to Hone, I ask better questions, manage conflict better, and I listen to my colleagues and clients better. The classes are fun and engaging, so even when I’m having an “off” day, I’m glad I took the time and participated.
