In this session, you will further your understanding of microaggressions and the impact they can have in the workplace. Then, you will practice applying a key framework to effectively address microaggressions on your team and foster long-term psychological safety.
Microaggressions can make people feel othered, undermined, and stereotyped, which can have long-term effects on their performance and their mental and physical well-being. Therefore, addressing microaggressions is a key skill to foster psychological safety on your team and help teammates bring their best selves to work.
In this session, you will reflect on the “hidden messages” that make microaggressions so insidious and the impact of hearing these messages on recipients. You will practice taking on three different roles - the bystander, the recipient, and the microaggressor - and address microaggressions in each role while using the four-PART framework taught in the first session.
